Webcam in Paris, which allows you to see in real time one of the main attractions of the city – the Arc de Triomphe. This majestic structure was built in the first half of the 19th century (1806-1836) by the design of Jean Schalgren. The main customer of the construction was the Emperor of France Napoleon Bonaparte, and the arch should symbolize and glorify the victories of the French army. Arc de Triomphe located in the 8th district of the city and it is much larger than many people think. The height of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris is 49.5 meters – it is more high than the typical 15-storey building. Therefore, it is not surprising that most of the neighboring houses in Paris are much lower. The width of the Arc de Triomphe is almost 45 meters, and the height of its central arch is almost 30 meters.

The triumphal arch stands in the central part of the round square of Charles de Gaulle, better known as the Square of the Star due to the large number of streets and avenues diverging in different directions. The width (diameter) of this circular area is 170 meters, and circular traffic is organized around the arch. Around the Triumphal arch there are 100 curbstone made of granite, which are connected together by thick chains of cast iron. Unfortunately, with the help of this live webcam it’s difficult to see sculptural compositions and bas-reliefs that adorn the Arc de Triomphe from all sides and are dedicated to the events of the military history of France of the early 19th century. Neither the architect, nor Napoleon himself lived to see the end of the Triumphal Arch construction – the building was completed already after the defeat of the French army.

The Paris webcam with a view of Arc de Triomphe is distinguished by the high quality of the video, but with strong gusts of wind you may notice some trembling. This is due to the fact that in reality the web camera is located at a great distance from the arch – about 4 km away. It is at this distance that the Arc de Triomphe is located in Paris from the Montparnasse tower, on top of which a webcam is fixed (the Montparnasse tower can be seen with the help of another Paris webcam). In the foreground we can see the towers of the two cathedrals. The pointed tower to the right is the Catedral Americana de Paris. And the high bell on the right is the Church of St. Pierre de Chaillot (Église Saint-Pierre de Chaillot). Both cathedrals are located 700-800 meters from the Arc de Triomphe. This live webcam Paris, which is broadcast in real time by Viewsurf, works round the clock on-line. I wish you a pleasant virtual trip to Paris!
