This is one of the most interesting webcams in the capital of Hungary, because it is located on the western bank of the Danube River and shows us in real time one of the most important sights of Budapest and the whole country – the building of the Hungarian Parliament. The grandiose building, which the Hungarians themselves call Orsaghaz, is the main symbol of the city, which you can find on almost all souvenirs from the Hungarian capital and on most tourist postcards. The Hungarian Parliament is not accidentally called one of the most beautiful buildings in Europe, because the beauty and grandeur of this building amaze both near and far. And you can see for yourself with the help of the web-camera of Budapest in real time, which is placed on this page.

The building of the Hungarian Parliament was designed in the late 19th century, after the unification of the cities of Buda and Pest into one city. The construction was started in 1895 and continued until 1904. Initially, the plans were to complete the construction much faster, but taking into account the construction technologies of that time, the construction period is not too big, because the building is very large. Even today, more than 100 years after the construction, the Hungarian parliament building is still the largest building in the country. In the external appearance of the parliament building, whose architect was Imre Steindl, we can see the elements of the Neo-Gothic and the Parisian Boz-ara. The facade of the building is decorated with hundreds of columns and statues of famous rulers of Hungary, and the red roof is decorated with numerous turrets and a large dome.

To give you a better idea of the size of the building, you must know a few figures. The height of the central dome is 27 meters, and its diameter is 20 meters. In the building of the Hungarian parliament there are 10 courtyards, 29 staircases and 691 premises, including the halls of the parliament of the country and conference rooms. During the construction of the building, the authorities of the country did not save money on decorating the interiors, as a result of which the interior decoration was magnificently decorated with stained-glass windows, mosaics, panels and gilding. By the way, if you have the opportunity to see the building of the Hungarian parliament only from outside with the help of this Budapest webcam, then while visiting the city you can admire the building from the inside. To do this, visit the tour, which takes place through the parliament building (there are several languages available).

In addition to beautiful interiors, you can see the country’s main national values – the crown of St. Stephen, the power, the scepter and the sword. These values are displayed in the big hall of parliament under the dome. There at the beginning of every hour you can see the guard of honor in historical military uniform. There is also a small museum inside the building, the exhibits of which tell about the stages of building construction. There is also a large layout of the building in a section that allows you to better understand its architectural features. By the way, one of the exhibits of this museum today is the big red star, which in the years of socialism in Hungary was installed over the dome of the building.

Behind the parliament building there is a beautiful square with benches, flower beds and fountains, a large spire with the state flag and several other beautiful buildings. By the way, nearby there are buildings of the Ministry of Agriculture of Hungary and the Ethnographic Museum of Budapest, which also participated in the architectural competition of the building of the parliament building, but were not so good as the Imre Steindl project. This Budapest webcam works around the clock and you can admire the building of the Hungarian Parliament at any time of the day, because the building has a high-quality night illumination and it is sometimes difficult to determine when it looks better – day or night. Enjoy watching!
